Hullo! So, I'm kind of new to Soap&skin, and you seemed like the person to ask. :) I've looked through Anya's albums, and the songs, Requiem and Gradient Ruin aren't in any of them. Are they part of a mash-up CD with a compilation of artists, or are they just not there? Thank you! <3
i’m sorry, i’m afraid i dont know too much about soap&skin </3
I think the real reason that I got into drawing was because it allowed me to escape from reality…. My drawings are like my own little world where I dive into so that I dont have to deal with unpleasant emotions/thoughts…. Some things can just be so over bearing..
Maybe i’m too sensitive, or maybe i’m just too dramatic… but really… I dont know how to cope with these things any other way.
Okay, I’m not saying that artists has it a lot harder than non-artists people, but it’s just frustrating when they can’t understand what artist have to go through too. Most people get a salary paying job with hours, schedule, and shifts. Once their shift is done, they’re job is done for the day/week and they get to do whatever they want with their remaining time. For us, art is not a career or a title that we can switch off and on. Artists strive every day, every waking hour trying to find inspiration, to improve, and try to find a place for themselves and their art in this world… As Becky said, people tend to take design/art for granted. it’s something that surrounds us every day of our life and it’s something that people dont realize how much research and time it takes to produce it. The fact that art students dont write papers everyday doesn’t make us any less “smart”. Just like anybody, we’re people who has a passion and goal in mind that we’re working towards.
I am an artist (or an art student to be specific), and I have non artist friends. Really smart ones. It always somewhat bothered me, because regardless of whether or not they realize it, their attitude towards me is sometimes somewhat condescending. I know that they don’t always mean it, but I’m…
Took a nap and had a scary-ass dream about a boy and older man attacking me, and it ended in them cutting their own pee wees off and setting the building we were in on fire… An angel lead me away from the scene, and I followed her bawling my eyes out and I felt like I’ve never felt so much grief in all my life.
Skipped figure drawing workshop and came back home early yesterday intent on doing some work, but instead, fell asleep at 9pm. Woke up at 1pm today and just rolled around in bed watching anime, eating and sleeping some more. Finally got up at 10pm.
Even though I have been getting quite a lot of good encouragement from creditable people, i can’t help but feel unconfident and confused in my own abilities. Sometimes, I feel like i have potential, but lack the sufficient skills to show it and i just end up depressed and full of self criticism.
Hi! Do you use any other colored inks besides black? If so, what for? I think I've seen a variety of inks in your uploads, but your art is only in black ink. Totally loving your art, by the way!
Why yes! I have incorporated a variety of winsor and newton colored inks for their bright pigment which you cannot otherwise achieve through regular paints. However, the bright colored inks are not archival (it’s like a one-time usage kind of thing). Some examples: “Waiting for Agatha” and “The Cursed White Rose” “The Crow Who Fell in Love with Lydia” and “Blind in One Eye”.
Also, in “Consolation” and “Consolation 2”, the line work was does in winsor and newton’s nut brown ink. I’ve also mixed a variety of colored inks (Black, brown and red for a dark sepia color) for line work in a lot of my past works such as “The Prophetic Gaze” “Unripe” and ”The Two Headed Flower”. Also, for “Barn Owl” and “”Madame de l’encadrement” the pen i’ve used for the line work is not quite black but it’s actually a greyish sepia toned ink! I guess it all depends on what kind of feel you want to go for when choosing the colors you want to use for your line work. Lately, I prefer the black on white aesthetic because it’s simple, yet very bold and the details are easily recognizable.
You can view the work that i have referenced here on my art tumblr (Noir’s Coffin), blogger, or on my deviantart page, all of which is located on the left hand corner of this page. i think deviantart is the most easiest to navigate tho in my opinion :-) Thanks! and I hope that this answers your question!
